Budapest

Buda and Pest. A lovely couple of cities that joined to form Budapest.

In the morning we had a guided tour with our guide Dora "the explorer". She was a lot of fun. Pointing out how Hungry is a place that comes second for most things. Second bigest parliament house, Second oldest ... Unfortunately they also came second in all the wars they have been in, including WWII when they were on the side of the Nazis.

The day we were there was a public holiday celebrating the war of independence. Unfortunately they lost that too. However they still celebrate the war. We visited Hero square with its impressive statues including a statue of the person who lead them to defeat in the war of independence.

In the afternoon we went for a walk up to the Castle where the views across Pest were spectacular.

That night we enjoyed the Captain's welcoming dinner - a five course affair.

We are not going hungry on this trip.
