Prague Day 2
A free day today. We started early walking through the back streets until we hit
the river further up stream. We had a coffee in a lovely cafe before queueing for a funicular ride up to the top of the
mountain overlooking Prague. We also climbed to the top of a mini eiffel tower lookalike.
up there - The views were stunning! Joe figures we probably walked about 15 km!
We crashed back at the hotel room late in the afternoon. Leanda reluctant to go back
out for night shots of the Charles bridge and castle. Joe went out and after some
quiet coercion Leanda was persuaded to go as well. Wow!!!! the crowds were
almost gone and so were the hawkers. You can see the photos - Am so glad I didn't miss
it! We left early the next morning for Budapest by bus.
The bus ride was slowed by a horrendous accident which delayed us for a few hours.
As we passed the wreckage we saw how bad it was.
While we were waiting some of the people saw what some women will do when they are
desperate to go, and can't. We'll do it anyway - in the middle of the roadway!!
As we drove along, our Prague guide, Milan, talked about life under the communists.
Most was pretty negative but he did miss the way people spent more time socialising.
